Should IT industry have Unions?

The IT industry has so far been clear of unions... Now a debate has sparked on the need for Unions ...

What sort of issues could be sorted if such a Union is to be formed?

Will competent people be interested in joining such a sort of an alliance?

IT organisation generally deals employers in a case to case basis..
Will top-end professionals come forward to form common laws, discuss on ergonomics and workplace condition and issues?
